Be the Change 2018: Food for Your Mood

We all know that the kinds of foods that we eat impact our physical health, but can it also have an impact on our mental health? On Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018, during the third annual “Be the Change” event, approximately 150 people gathered to learn how food and drink choices impact your mind and body while also raising funds for the Hamilton Center Foundation.

The event, titled “Food for Your Mood,” took place at the Red Barn at Sycamore Farm and featured a progressive, four-course dinner, created by Chef Kris Kraut of the Butler’s Pantry, and discussed by Kathleen Stienstra, MD, of the Maple Center for Integrative Health. Throughout the evening, Dr. Stienstra shared information about the ingredients used in each dish and their impact on health and wellness with a focus on mental health.

All donations to the event were matched by the Hux Family Charitable Trust. In addition, the family trust underwrote the event so that 100 percent of the proceeds could go directly to Hamilton Center Foundation Inc.

Thanks to the generosity of the Hux Family Charitable Trust, donations to the Hamilton Center Foundation will continue to be matched through the end of the year! Your donation to the Foundation will help provide quality clinical services that are current, compassionate and effective; charity care to ensure mental health and addiction treatment is available to anyone in needs; capital needs to provide the latest facilities, clinical materials/tools and technology to assist in providing the highest quality, state-of-the-art care; and community outreach/education and prevention services such as Mental Health First Aid and prevention programs in the school.
